Bartholomaus "Bartel" Platane is a supporting character in Atelier Viorate: The Alchemist of Gramnad 2. He also appears in Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World.
Bartholomaus (known as "Bartel") is the older brother to Viorate, and has assumed a parent's role in protecting his sister. When their parents decide to leave Karotte Village, Bartel stays behind to support Viorate in her dream of running a workshop.
Although he does work to help support himself and Viorate, he doesn't like to work too hard and skips out on hard work whenever he can.[1] He has had dreams of going on adventures and being a knight since childhood. He has a crush on the mayor's daughter, Klara and will always work harder if she's around[2], or if she asks him for a favor.
His best friend Rodefried Santar helps Bartholomaus to practice his swordsmanship, although he is jealous at times of Rodefried's wealth and abilities.[3]
Role[]
The player can hire him as clerk for the store for no fee or hire him into the party as an adventurer. If he is working as a clerk, Violet's shop will close at the end of the three month employment period if Bart was employed there the whole time.[4]
He can also participate in the village auction. At the auction, he may put up either 'junk' items or rare items for sale.[5]
Battle[]
Bartholomaus can be equipped with three different kinds of weapons in battle: small swords, swords and great swords. For armor, he can equip: light armor, heavy armor, clothing, light shields and heavy shields.[6]He is cheap for Viorate to hire, with a hiring rate between 18-10 cole.[7]
