Gino is a bright-eyed and optimistic young adventurer. He began practicing swordplay at a young age, and, when he realized that there was a world of powerful monsters for him to defeat, being an adventurer became his dream. He grew up in the village of Alanya with Totori, with whom he remains close friends. His adventures began when the two left their village to get their Adventurer's Licenses together.
As he grows up, Gino develops into a seasoned adventurer and a skilled swordsman. He is always smiling and upbeat, and has a positive attitude about most things. He never gives up on a task that he's been given, even while struggling with his goals. He can be somewhat careless when he's got his mind set on something due to his tendency to only focus on the task at hand.
Gino is always focused on improving his skills with a sword. His goal is to be strong enough that he can defeat Sterk, who was his personal mentor and teacher during the events of Atelier Totori. Until he is able to defeat his master, Gino feels that he is not living up his full potential, and that he will not be able to become the world's greatest adventurer.
He believes that strength is the most important trait to have, and that a person can triumph over anything if they are strong enough. He vows to protect others, and he feels good knowing that he can help, while being able to improve himself along the way.
Gino is the first recruitable party member in Atelier Totori, and is Totori's childhood friend. In the game's prologue, Gino will become determined to help Totori raise enough money for a carriage ride to Arland. Like Totori, he too wants an adventurer's license so that he can pursue his dream of becoming an adventurer. When the two are able to travel to Arland, they go to the Adventurer's Guild and receive their licenses at the same time.
From this point, the two will return to Alanya and the prologue will end. The player can choose to keep Gino in their party or to recruit other party members. Gino can be found outside of Gerhard's bar in Alanya if the player wishes to recruit him. Gino has his own unique game ending that can be witnessed by triggering certain events and by befriending Gino throughout the game.
Gino is one of the adventurer's hired by Rufus to escort Princess Meruru. If the player's alchemy level is higer than their adventurer's level, then Gino can be recruited as early as the first time the Arls National Mine is discovered. If the player's adventurer's level is higher, then another adventurer will arrive at this time, and Gino will arrive in Arls 60 days after the first adventurer.
Gino has grown into a strong swordsmen since his role in Atelier Totori, and is available to recruit by visiting the Tavern. Gino is still pushing himself to be stronger, and claims that he wasn't improving because he has already defeated all of the strong monsters that were in Arland. Gino still wishes to be the world's greatest adventurer, and his ultimate goal is to beat his instructor Sterk.
Like in Atelier Totori, Gino has his own game ending that can be seen through a variety of events throughout the game and by befriending Gino.
